| | | | | | | | Delivery Schedules |  | Once your book has been contracted for publication, you should be prepared to discuss a delivery schedule with your editor. Your contract will contain a final acceptable manuscript deadline, which should represent the date that your very final draft, including any rewrites, final artwork, and permissions, will be expected for submission.
However, we encourage the use of a graduated delivery schedule so that your editor can assist you in manuscript development. If your contractual delivery date is at least six months following contract signature, you will be asked to submit your manuscript in roughly three chapter clusters. For example, a submission schedule could look like this:
Contract Signature Date: April 15, 2001
Contracted Final Delivery Date: January 15, 2002
- Chapters 1-4 due July 15, 2001
- Chapters 5-8 due October 15, 2001
- Chapters 9, 10, and Glossary due December 15, 2001
By submitting your chapters in clusters, we can give you internal and independent review recommendations to help refine your manuscript and head off any potential art or content problems before your final deadline arrives. You should expect review comments within 2-4 weeks after submission of a chapter cluster.
